"Banks Of Eden" Press Statement

The Flower Kings are back with a new album called "Banks of Eden" and it's the result of work in progress since December 2011. The updated version of the band showcases the classic lineup of Stolt, Bodin, Reingold and Froberg with the addition of new German prodigy powerhouse drummer Felix Lehrmann.
The new album "Banks Of Eden" was recorded with the band playing live in one room in Varispeed studio in January 2012, a recording much like in the old days of classic prog, before computers hit the market and this time with plenty of original 60's and 70's recording equipment, for a true warm analogue vintage sound. "We aimed for the classic big warm vinyl-sound of old records by Queen, Genesis, Zeppelin or Deep Purple," says Stolt.

New Flower Kings album title, cover artwork and release date

After five years of absence progressive cult rockband "The Flower Kings" will release their new studio album on the 18th of June.
The new sound carrier is called "Banks Of Eden".
It will be released throughout InsideOut Music (Century Media/ EMI).
The material is all classic Flower Kings, but the 2012 incarnation of the band mixes it up with both psychedelic and darker metal passages that place this album somewhere in between the late 60's proto prog and the new generation of art rock.
Roine comments:
"It was both a scary and exciting prospect to go back into the studio after an almost 5 year-long, well-earned hiatus. We have all been active with Transatlantic, Karmakanic, Agents Of Mercy since, so we were up to speed in the playing department, but starting TFK again put some weight on my shoulders I suppose, but it's fun.
Realizing now with ELP, Crimson, Genesis, Gentle Giant, Pink Floyd being history we are among the new eldermen of Prog and we feel responsible for keeping the standard up, so a lot of hard work is gonna go into the coming months.
The core members are there and for this re-starting of TFK we brought in new 26 year old drummer prodigy Felix Lehrmann who we feel Felix is gonna breathe life into both the new and old material in a live setting, possibly with a more hard hitting edge.
The progressive daredevil at the helms made us start the new album with a 25 min epic centerpiece that is NOT easy listening. But the material also has all classic elements of the Flower Kings style with all the dreamy melodic & cinematic glow sprinkled all over, that the band's fans have come to love over the years.
My advice is: just give it time and it will be very rewarding."

In all likelihood the band will go on an extended headlining tour across Europe in September. But it's for sure that they will play their first official re-union gig at the Sweden Rock Festival and one month later 7th July at Loreley "Night Of Prog".

Legendary progressive, iconic, symphonic rockband "The Flower Kings", formed in 1995 by guitarist, singer, composer Roine Stolt ( Transatlantic ), announce their immediate return to service in 2012, after an almost 5 years well earned hiatus.
The band consisting of Roine Stolt, bassplayer extraordinaire Jonas Reingold, keyboarder grand deluxe Tomas Bodin, singer & guitarist Hasse Froberg and new 26 year old Berliner dextrous drummer prodigy Felix Lehrmann, started the recording of a new album at Varispeed studios in Sweden on January 23rd.
The music is recorded in classic 70's style, with all musicians performing live in a room thru 70's vintage tube recording equipment and famous NEVE consoles.
If all Gods and muses are onboard the new TFK is scheduled for an album release on June 6th on the Inside Out Music label (Century Media/EMI).
The yet unnamed album has a 23 min epic centerpiece and the material is all classic Flowerkings style with all the dreamy melodic & cinematic elements that the bands fans has come to love over the years, but also contain some heavier psychedelic music and some darker hi energy material.
The band is likely to embark on a headline european tour in september this year but will have it's official first re-union gig at the "Sweden Rock Festival" in June 7th - 2012.

TRANSATLANTIC played a very successful and much talked about European tour in 2010. For all the fans who were not able to attend one of those unique concerts and for those who would like to re-live this mind-blowing experience some of the shows were recorded. The material was so overwhelming that – after the release of "Whirld Tour 2010 – An Evening With Transatlantic" - the band as well as the label decided to release more great material for the fans and prog music lovers out there which is now available as a 3 CD + 2 DVD Digipak including some nice bonus material.

COMM is our 6th album, it's an album once again about the world that we live in, here in 2011 and it marks a hundred years of the way we live our lives in what we sometimes call "A Shrinking World". We are obsessed with Communications nowadays and this album takes a look at those obsessions from several different points of view, which are not always favourable!
This album is the debut studio recording of Luke Machin, a stunning 22 year old guitar player who has taken fans by storm at gigs around Europe in the past 18 months. Despite his youth, Luke is heavily influenced by the great progressive rock guitarists from Francis Dunnery to Andy Latimer, Allan Houldsworth and Daniel Gildenlow.
COMM has taken 2 years to write and record. The cover artworks marks a return to the popular partnership between The Tangent and Belarussian artist Ed Unitsky. COMM will be released in 3 editions, a special edition with 2 bonus tracks (one of which is an unusual cover version) which will be released in a limited first pressing digipak edition. And there will also be a limited 180 g VINYL edition with a gatefold sleeve.

Yes, the time has come to announce the birth of a new album by AGENTS OF MERCY.
The album is called "The Black Forest" and is what some may call a "concept album".
Now you've heard that term a million times - 'cause it's PROG. However it is safe to say that this one really is - the album concept dealing with that big dark and scary forest - but not a story about hobbits trolls and dragons. "The Black Forest" is a surreal journey - a metaphor for a trip through very dark disturbing and likewise scary times, where we all set out on a lifelong journey knowing of all the scary encounters lurking out there. Greed, lust, hunger for power, money, eternal life, mindcontrol, poisoned water and food, warheads, warpigs, new princes re-building the babylonian towers now and again- and guess what..... we're the prey !!
The world is a beautiful place but also very turbulent times lies ahead - beware - be strong !
(btw. Love is the only answer !)
The music is a more rock oriented path we've taken, for good reasons - we are a R&R band at the core but we like symphonic music, jazz and folk or whatever tickle our fancy at the time.
The tunes are longer and more elaborated (prog) but sometimes with a ironfist of raw power punching your surprised face - play it loud!
Same lineup - more power - more detail - more confident - all ready to move you in a live setting.

In the summer of 2007, 40 years down the road from the original "Summer of Love", a band from Sweden, The Flower Kings, started planning to tour the universe to spread "the word" in a custom-built Volkswagen bus.
It wasn't just any regular VW bus; it was designed by Russian AquaTouring engineer Ed Unitsky and the general idea was to be able to travel thru time, space, rain, storm, mountains and oceans to spread the message of LOVE!
Now being 2007 we soon realized that we may need a bit of comfort because prog musicians do get grumpy and in the good old prog tradition, the egos grow bigger than the size of Germany, so we all needed our own Prog-turf on the road, a place for each of us to hang our glittering capes.
So we rented a rolling castle from Kaiser Red Car and instructed the Orch-crew to load our Mellotrons, Taurus and kettledrums.
Once the guest drummer from the Crimson Kingdom had arrived and we were assured he was about the nicest chap there is in the music biz, the lot of us started cultivating the musical beast with a frenzy.
Two more American icons arrived, the Mighty "Mercher" that is Mr. Durbuck and a famous sound designer named Mr "DevilEars" (Paul DeVilliers) that had worked with giants like Mr Mister, Yes, Stevie Wonder, Bette Midler etc. so it looked like time to feel small, gulp!
So there we were, in a lofty rehearsal room spending most of the days cultivating the sounds of no evil, tuning Minimoogs and cursing our stupidity in writing way too complicated songs to play live. But hey - who said prog was meant to be easy, or life for that matter.
We had a dream-team on board, so "Shut up and play yer bassguitar".
Fast forward about a week, first show the following day in a kingdom nearby, home of trolls & deathmetalfairies - Norway. Our German Red Castle had arrived with two drivers and the idea was to travel by night to Oslo for a premiere show.
Band on board, crew on board, after midnight, bus rolling out of our town, everyone eager to get a good nights sleep.
CRAAASHHH ! - ( Sound of shattering glass and loud voices in German ) "SCHEIZE - TOUR KAPUTT - KAPUTT !!!"
Rest of band seemed to be sleeping, regardless of noises and german cursing.
I got up - 'cause I hadn't yet fallen asleep and realized thyat we had just hit a young moose (elk) and the windshield of this rolling red fortress was shattered, cracked and all over the bus floor.
So much for "The Tour Of No Evil"...............
